COMPETITIONS 2011-12

 

 

ALSAGER CAMERA CLUB – COMPETITIONS 2011-2012

 

Here is a summary of all the competitions in the 2011-12 season, together with the appropriate entry requirements and dates.

Unless specifically stated otherwise the competitions are “open” and members may chose their own subjects.

 

Note 1: For internal competitions, unless specifically stated otherwise, members may enter 2 images in each of the judging categories: Colour prints, Monochrome prints, Colour projected images or Monochrome projected images. (A maximum of 8 entries per competition.)

 

Note 2: For internal competitions Prints should be given to John Dennis by the ‘entry required date’. Projected digital images (PDI) should be given to Yvonne Lewington by the same date either by email or on a returnable memory stick. A “Dropbox” facility may also be available. Entries will be required at least 1 week before the competition so that the preparation work can be done.

 

Note 3: For external competitions the club is normally required to submit 10 prints and 10 PDI. Members are invited to make their images available by the ‘entry required’ date. A selection panel comprising a number of club members who have been successful in competitions will then select the most appropriate submission for the competition. The host club also requires preparation time so the ‘entry required date’ can be some weeks in advance of the competition date.

 

Note 4: In order to make sure that the Projected Digital Images display properly there are some standards to which we need to conform. Unless otherwise stated the standard size is 1024 (wide) x 768(high) pixels (portrait images must not exceed 768 pixels on the longest side). The colour space is sRGB and the file format is jpeg. For Internal competitions the file name should follow the format: Image number_Title_membership number.jpg . For example:  01_A Birds Eye View_040.jpg

 

For External competitions the images should be submitted with the file name as for the Internal competition (in order to identify the author). Selected images will then be changed to the format No_title_club.jpg before submission to the competition.

 

No changes will be made to the images (except for the file name) in order to preserve the integrity of the authors work. So it’s important to submit images that conform to the above standards.

 

Note 5: Any change to these requirements will be notified before individual competitions.
